As of 22 May, 2024, SmartTrace has performed a website update and with comes some changes regarding the transfer process especially for our implanters and breeders.
Firstly, multiple microchip transfers to breeders are still free. You can transfer them by going to your microchip dashboard then click the tick boxes beside the microchip and a transfer to breeder button will appear. Please use the photo below as a reference:
Second, to transfer to keepers, click the transfer button and it will copy a link that you will provide to the keeper. This will allow the keeper to register the microchip directly to their account. It will no longer be free as the keeper will be required to choose and pay for a plan before they can complete their registration. This will ensure that keepers are adding their information to their microchips. Please provide this instruction to breeders as well moving forward.
This change aims to lessen the instances of microchips being registered to keepers without putting any information about their pets which results into difficulties when their pet gets lost or worst, stolen.
With this change, it allows the keeper to personally work on the registration of their pet and ensure that they are able to access and update the microchip information as needed.
